albelli

albelli sells photo books in 16 sizes, prints in the Netherlands and is part of Storio group. You build the book yourself in the editor or the app, or let the Smart Assistant make a first layout.

The book starts at €37.99 for 24 pages and €0.78 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €97.27. They promise usually 5 to 7 working days.

CEWE calls itself the European market leader in photo books and sells 9 sizes in the Netherlands with a choice of paper types and covers. You make the book in the software or the app, and the photo book assistant fills it as a starting point.

The book starts at €34.95 for 26 pages and €0.80 (€3.20 per 4 pages) per extra page. With 102 pages it costs €95.75. They promise 3 to 8 working days.

Fotofabriek

Fotofabriek prints its photo books in the Netherlands and calls itself the winner of the Fotoboekentest 2026. 8 hardcover sizes, up to 400 pages, with automatic fill as a starting point in the editor.

The book starts at €29.99 for 24 pages and €0.60 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €75.59. They promise shipping after 3 working days.

Pixum

Pixum prints in Germany and sells 8 sizes. Extra pages come in blocks of 4. In the app and software, Magic Books (Toverboeken) make an automatic proposal you finish yourself.

The book starts at €33.95 for 26 pages and €0.875 (€3.50 per 4 pages) per extra page. With 102 pages it costs €100.45. They promise 4 to 8 working days.

smartphoto makes photo books in Europe with layflat binding on every hardcover. You work in the browser without an app, and the Instant Creator fills the book as a starting point. Books go up to 100 pages.

Kruidvat

Kruidvat Merk is Kruidvat’s own-brand photo book. 9 hardcover sizes, free pickup in the shop, and the lowest from-price in this comparison, with 16 pages included.

The book starts at €25.99 for 16 pages and €0.57 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €73.87. They promise normally 4 working days.

Profotonet

Profotonet is a professional photo lab in Capelle aan den IJssel, near Rotterdam, that has worked for photographers for more than forty years. The premium hardcover photo book is exposed on Fujifilm photo paper, lies flat as standard and has a cover chosen from more than sixty materials. You make the book yourself in the online editor or the desktop software.

The book starts at €47.25 for 22 pages and €1.275 (€2.55 per 2 pages) per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €146.70. They promise production 4 to 7 working days, plus shipping.

Which photo book is the best tested?

This is what the services say on their own sites, read on 3 September 2026. The years are given, because some results are old by now. Kruidvat mentions no test results.

• Fotofabriek writes that it won the Tips Fotoalbum Maken photo book test for the ninth year in a row, against 33 providers, and that AVROTROS Radar scored its book 8.2.
• CEWE reports six TIPA World Awards, including ‘Best photo book’ in 2025 and 2026, and the highest score (95 out of 100) in a 2020 software test.
• Pixum names a test win at NETZWELT (October 2025) and the TIPA World Award 2025 for best photo book app.
• smartphoto reports the highest final score in the Test Aankoop shopping test.
• albelli lists, among others, ‘Consumentenbond Beste Fotoalbum’ (2015), ‘Beste Fotoboek’ from Zoom.nl (2017), ‘Testaankoop Beste Koop’ (Belgium, 2019) and the ‘Beste Kwaliteit Award’ from Tipsfotoalbummaken.nl (2015).
