We compare services that sell photo books in the Netherlands and publish their prices, including the price per extra page, on their site. The prices of albelli, CEWE, Fotofabriek, Pixum, smartphoto, Kruidvat, Profotonet and Saal Digital come from their own price pages, checked on 5 October 2026 (Saal Digital on 6 October 2026).

foto foto turns your photos into a printed hardcover photo book. You add your photos, we make the book: selection, order, layout and cover, and we print it in Germany.

The book starts at €30.00 for 24 pages and €0.50 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €68.00. With us it lands on your doormat about a week after you order.

foto foto is owned by Nternet Studio B.V. in Amsterdam. It is that studio's only photo book brand.

albelli

albelli sells photo books in 16 sizes and prints in the Netherlands. You build the book yourself in the editor or the app, or let the Smart Assistant make a first layout.

The book starts at €41.99 for 24 pages and €0.78 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €101.27. They promise usually 5 to 7 working days.

albelli is owned by Storio Group, which also has Photobox, Hofmann and posterXXL.

CEWE

CEWE calls itself the European market leader in photo books and sells 9 sizes in the Netherlands with a choice of paper types and covers. You make the book in the software or the app, and the photo book assistant fills it as a starting point.

The book starts at €34.95 for 26 pages and €0.80 (€3.20 per 4 pages) per extra page. With 102 pages it costs €95.75. They promise 4 to 6 working days.

CEWE is CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA, which also has Pixum, WhiteWall and Cheerz. Pixum is in this comparison too, so those two have the same owner.

Fotofabriek

Fotofabriek prints its photo books in the Netherlands and calls itself the winner of the Fotoboekentest 2026. 8 hardcover sizes, up to 400 pages, with automatic fill as a starting point in the editor.

The book starts at €29.99 for 24 pages and €0.65 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €79.39. They promise shipping after 3 working days.

Fotofabriek is part of Chris Russell, the printing company in Groningen where the books are printed. The same owner runs Fotofabrik.de, the German shop.

Pixum

Pixum prints in Germany and sells 8 sizes. Extra pages come in blocks of 4. In the app and software, Magic Books (Toverboeken) make an automatic proposal you finish yourself.

The book starts at €33.95 for 26 pages and €0.875 (€3.50 per 4 pages) per extra page. With 102 pages it costs €100.45. They promise 4 to 8 working days.

Pixum is owned by CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA, which also has WhiteWall and Cheerz. CEWE is in this comparison too, so those two have the same owner.

smartphoto

smartphoto makes photo books in Europe with layflat binding on every hardcover. You work in the browser without an app, and the Instant Creator fills the book as a starting point. Books go up to 100 pages.

The book starts at €29.99 for 20 pages and €0.80 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €93.99. They promise on average within 5 to 7 working days.

smartphoto is owned by Smartphoto Group NV in Wetteren. The company was delisted from the Brussels exchange on 9 July 2025.

Kruidvat

Kruidvat Merk is Kruidvat's own-brand photo book. 9 hardcover sizes, free pickup in the shop, and the lowest from-price in this comparison, with 16 pages included.

The book starts at €25.99 for 16 pages and €0.57 per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €73.87. They promise normally 4 working days.

Kruidvat is owned by A.S. Watson Group, which also has Trekpleister and ICI Paris XL.

Profotonet

Profotonet is a professional photo lab in Capelle aan den IJssel, near Rotterdam, that has worked for photographers for more than forty years. The premium hardcover photo book is exposed on Fujifilm photo paper, lies flat as standard and has a cover chosen from more than sixty materials. You make the book yourself in the online editor or the desktop software.

The book starts at €44.00 for 22 pages and €1.275 (€2.55 per 2 pages) per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €143.45. They promise production about 4 working days, plus shipping.

Profotonet is part of Kamera Express Group, the camera shop chain.

Saal Digital

Saal Digital prints in its own lab in Germany and sells 8 hardcover sizes. You make the book in their software, app or online designer, and the One Minute photo book makes an automatic proposal you then adjust yourself.

The book starts at €33.99 for 26 pages and €1.275 (€2.55 per 2 pages) per extra page. With 100 pages it costs €128.34. They promise production in 1 to 2 working days and delivery in 2 to 3 working days.

Saal Digital is owned by Saal Digital Fotoservice GmbH in Röttenbach, Germany. Founder Reinhard Saal still runs the company, together with Robin Saal and Uwe Glander.

Which photo book is the best tested?

This is what the services say on their own sites, read on 5 October 2026. The years are given, because some results are old by now. Kruidvat mentions no test results.

• Fotofabriek writes that it won the Tips Fotoalbum Maken photo book test for the ninth year in a row, against 33 providers, and that AVROTROS Radar scored its book 8.2.
• CEWE reports TIPA awards for 'Best photo book' in 2025 for its panorama page and in 2026 for its photo book pocket.
• Pixum names a test win at NETZWELT (October 2025) and the TIPA World Award 2025 for best photo book app.
• smartphoto reports the highest final score in the Test Aankoop shopping test.
• albelli lists, among others, 'Consumentenbond Beste Fotoalbum' (2015), 'Beste Fotoboek' from Zoom.nl (2017), 'Testaankoop Beste Koop' (Belgium, 2019) and the 'Beste Kwaliteit Award' from Tipsfotoalbummaken.nl (2015).
